10 Reasons Women Go on Quick Diets

There are a multitude of quick diets with claims of dramatic weight lose in short periods of time. Although some of them may work short term, in the long run any temporary weight loss is quickly regained and many can be very unhealthy. Some women can be quite susceptible to the allure of a quick and painless way to lose excess pounds for various reasons. Why do women go on quick diets only to be disappointed in the end?

  1. Special event – One of the biggest reasons to go on a quick diet is to lose weight for an upcoming special event. Weddings, class or family reunions, and vacations are some examples of when women want to look their best.
  2. Summer – We all tend to put on a few pounds in the winter with all the holiday eating that can be hidden under layers of heavy clothes. With summer approaching women start realizing they can’t hide the extra weight in a bikini or skimpy summer attire.
  3. Impatience – Losing weight and keeping it off can take a long time and some women just don’t have the patience to stick to a permanent change in their eating habits and lifestyle. They’re easily temped by a quick solution to their weight problem.
  4. No self control – It also takes a lot of self control to stick to a sensible diet plan and some women find this difficult to achieve. It’s much easier to adhere to a quickie diet knowing that it’s only temporary. Unfortunately, the weight is regained just as quickly when they go back to their regular eating habits.
  5. Impulsive – Some women are prone to indulge every whim and will go on a quick diet just because it seemed like a good idea at the time. These women are never satisfied with their appearance and are constantly changing hair color, wardrobes and hair styles.
  6. Quick fix – There are situations when women will panic and think a quickie diet is their only hope. Something unexpected has come up and she needs to lose weight fast.
  7. Gullible – The people promoting quick diets rely on the gullibility of women to fall for their unsubstantiated claims. A little research or common sense will easily debunk any diet that promises dramatic results with little effort.
  8. Latest fad – There are women who follow the crowd and are constantly trying the latest fad. They feel inclined to try the latest quick diet plan because all the cool people are doing it.
  9. Friend’s influence – Some women will be talked into to trying one of these diets by their friends. They’re easily swayed by wanting to be one of the gang and don’t want to be left out.
  10. Don’t like exercise – Quick diets can seem like an easy solution to women who don’t want to get the exercise needed to lose weight and keep it off. They don’t realize that dieting alone isn’t going to give them permanent results.

Unfortunately, quick diets are a temporary solution to a long term problem and many of them have very disappointing and short term results. Quickly losing weight and gaining it back again plays havoc with your metabolism and can be very detrimental to your overall health. The only tried and true method of permanent weight loss is to eat less and exercise more. This takes self discipline and perseverance that can be difficult to attain. Don’t be tempted by shortcuts that can do more harm than good, especially to your pocketbook.
